The coalition spans the ideological spectrum from left to right. A public-opinion survey of U.S. registered voters conducted by Vox Populi Polling on behalf of the Digital 4th Coalition found that 77 percent agreed that a warrant should be required to access "emails, photos and other private communications stored online."

2) This bill amends the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 to make a series of technical changes to clarify that the voluntary disclosure prohibitions and exceptions to such prohibitions apply to the content of communications regardless of whether the communications are held in storage or have been read.(Sec. 3) Additionally, the bill amends the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 to revise the standards for when a governmental entity may compel disclosure of communications content from a third party service provider. The bill removes the authority of a government entity to acquire the contents of a communication with a court order.

The Tribunal relied on evidence relating to email communication, which revealed that notices were sent to an old email address of the assessee, thereby depriving him of the opportunity to present his case.Since no explanation was provided, the assessment was reopened under Section 147 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The assessee failed to respond to notices and the assessment was completed ex-parte under Section 144, treating the cash deposits as “Income from other sources” and taxing them under Section 69A read with Section 115BBE. Sharad A. Shah, representing the appellant, argued that the failure to respond was due to notices being sent to his old email address, despite the updated email ID being provided in Form 35 at the appellate stage.The Tribunal evident by the records relating to email communication, established that the notices were sent to the wrong email address, thereby vitiating the assessment proceedings. If you have received an email from Google warning that one of your Gmail accounts is to be deleted, then you need to act now even if the account deletion date is set for some months into 2025.What’s more, there are steps to take to protect your accounts even if you do find yourself on the receiving end of a deletion warning email from Google. The warning applies to what Google considers as being inactive, and as such impacted by changes to the inactive account policy that became active as of Dec.Although, as already stated, Google has made it clear enough that any Google account not used within a two-year period is considered inactive, meaning that you are at risk of losing any information such as your Gmail email or Photo account photographs stored within, there are exceptions to the inactive policy rule. Here’s what you need to know and do. Google has said that it will notify all users of inactive accounts in plenty of time to enable them to take relevant action to protect those accounts they actually want to keep, along with the data associated with them.I wouldn’t run the risk of waiting for an email myself, given that it’s all too easy for a solitary bounced message or a server issue to mean that it doesn’t get delivered to your inbox, and so your opportunity to save an account could be lost. Instead, I’d follow the guidance that Google has provided by way of exceptions to the inactive Gmail policy rule which will deem your account to be active enough to be saved from the axe.
